In a new issue brief, Early Childhood Health Problems and Prevention Strategies: Costs and Benefits, researchers at Johns Hopkins University reveal the costs and benefits of investing in four treatable health problems that affect many children in the United States: obesity, mental health problems, serious unintentional injury, and exposure to tobacco smoke. Despite the variance in intervention strategies and measurable results, the study finds that investing in early childhood health makes economic sense.
